        Founded in 2004, the School of Software is one of the first exemplary software vocational technology colleges chartered by the Department of Education of Henan Province. The mission of the school is “to meet the local demand, to orient towards the national software industry, to provide high–level practical management talents for software engineering industry and related areas”. The school consists of full-time and part-time faculty members with rich experiences both in teaching and practice. Meanwhile, it is equipped with advanced hardware and software facilities for teaching, research and development, experiment and practical training. The school offers seven specialties (including software technology, computer application technology, computer information management and network system management) and one undergraduate degree program in software engineering. Presently more than 1,500 students have graduated and become the backbone of the workforce in the local and national software industry.
        The school has carried out a thorough reform in the education plan, curriculum system and practical teaching system, whose reform results have been widely extended and applied by other colleges of software in Henan Province. Taking “software design contest, computer knowledge contest and computer skill contest” as carrier, the school tries to enhance students’ interests and cultivate students’ skills.  
 Students’ Innovation and Training Center set up by the school provides an advanced software and hardware platform for students researching and developing software technology. The project “Reform and Practice in the Training Mode of Software Technology Talents” completed by the school won the provincial second prize for the sixth teaching achievements award in 2009. In the same year, Henan Province organized a group of experts to evaluate the first eight software colleges, and the experts spoke highly of and encouraged the school to deepen the teaching reform further and play the leading role in the construction of software vocational technology colleges in Henan Province.
       Up till now, the school has signed numerous agreements on practice, training and employment with more than 40 prominent enterprises nationwide to assure most students of good jobs. The annual employment rate has reached above 90%, and 85% of them are engaged in software development. Graduates of the school work in such large cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Zhengzhou in the field of software development and are making their contributions to the national software industry.
