      Founded in 1986, the School of Fashion Technology is one of the higher learning institutions which set up clothing majors at the earliest. It offers four undergraduate majors: fashion design and engineering, art design (clothing art design direction), art design (clothing design and Performance direction), art design (image design direction). It is qualified to provide master’s degrees in fashion design and engineering, art design (dress culture). Currently it totally has more than 750 undergraduates and graduates.
     The major of Fashion Design and Engineering is honored as Henan Famous Major in 2006, Henan Characteristic Major in 2008; and it has been noted for a key discipline in Henan Province since 2008.
     The students majoring in Art Design (fashion art design direction) have won lots of awards in many national and international competitions. According to China Fashion Designers Association, this major has entered into the top 15 successively for many years in the national field. In 2005, our school was honored as one of the national top ten schools and was awarded for cultivating outstanding graduates. Several students of 2005 participated in the competition of Tokyo Fashion Week, in which only a few young designers from the mainland could participate. In 2010, the school’s design team showed their designed spring clothing, autumn clothing and winter dress on the Shanghai World Expo, setting up a good image for Henan Province.
     The students majoring in are design (fashion design & performance direction) have made exceptionally achievements. In 2008, 15 student models of our school acted as national ushers of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, presenting good images of the university students in central China before the world and enjoying high reputation. On the Guangzhou Asian Games whose curtain has just fallen, one of our school’s students, Chen Lin, raised the gold medal for the “Flying Man”, Liu Xiang who has wrested the championship three times in a row, proving our school’s ability to cultivate talented students.
 In 2009, entrusted by Henan provincial government, the school undertook the glorious task of designing floats dress and performance, establishing the “peony fairy” fashion design plan from “the gestation of creature”, “the origin of civilization”, “the glorious history” to “blossoming in flourishing age, harmonious central plains”. At the 60th national anniversary, standing on the float of Henan Province, nine models of our school wearing the “peony fairy” costumes received the inspection of the national leaders and people when they crossed Tiananmen Square.  
     Presently, the school has some modern facilities such as Lab of Human Body 3D Non-contact Measure, Lab of Fashion CAM, Henan Fashion CAD Training Center, Lab of Fashion Function and Lab of Garment Manufacturing and Technology. Besides, it owns multiple functional facilities such as multifunctional performance hall and fashion show rehearsal hall.
