Prof. Zhang Kun of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Our University

On the afternoon of September 14, the ceremony of appointment for Prof. Zhang Kun, who is also the president of School of Communication and Information in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was held in the assembly room 201 of administration building of south campus. Dong Chengming, vice-president of our university and the heads from Personnel Department, Office of Academic Affairs, Science and Technology Department, Graduate Student Office, School of Communication and Information attended the ceremony, which was hosted by Dr. Sun Bin. On the ceremony, Vice-president Dong Chengming gave a welcoming speech to Prof. Zhang Kun, awarded the appointment letter and put on the school badge for him. Prof. Zhang Kun expressed his appreciation, discussed and exchanged thoughts with all present at the ceremony.

Professor Zhang Kun is the president of School of Communication and Information in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, doctoral supervisor, member of disciplinary council of the State Council Academic Degree Committee in the group of science and technology, deputy director of the Ministry of Education news publicity discipline teaching committee, deputy president of Committee of China Journalism History, deputy president of Chinese Association of Communication, deputy president of Chinese Journalism Education and so on. He has also won special allowance awarded by state department and was selected in trans-century talents by Ministry of Education in 1999. He won the national teaching achievement award, the humanities social science achievement award of Ministry of Education, excellent teacher of Baogang fund. Prof. Zhang has been engaged in political communication, journalism history research for many years, and has published 10 academic works and more than 140 papers with scientific attainments in academic periodicals at home and abroad.

As an adjunct professor of our school, Prof. Zhang Kun will help our school get high- level guidance in the research of disciplines concerned, advance the development of the related disciplines and play a role in promoting the cultivation of advanced applicative talents.
