                                                          School of Materials & Chemical Engineering
    The teaching staff of the School of Materials & Chemical Engineering is 49, including 10 professors, 17 associate professors, 19 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 4 teachers noted as Backbone Teachers in Henan Province. The school provides 4 undergraduate programs, including materials science and engineering, materials forming and control engineering, materials science and engineering, and applied chemistry, and an international cooperation educational program (materials engineering direction). Meanwhile it sets up two experimental teaching institutions, namely the experimental material test center and the experimental chemistry center. Two provincial labs and one research center have been founded, i.e., the engineering lab of the upgrade super-hard material tools in Henan Province,  the key lab developing base of fiber forming and modification of Henan universities, and the engineering technological research center of diamond saw cutting tools in Zhengzhou.
     In recent years, the school has taken charge of or participated in 15 projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, "863" project, major special projects in Henan Province, key scientific and technological project of Henan Province, Key Natural Foundation Project of Henan Province and Innovation Project of College Outstanding Talents in Henan Province. It has currently more than 20 crosswise projects under research and has published more than 400 high level academic papers, among which 150 have been selected for 3 international index systems: SCI, EI, and ISTP.
 
Introduction to the Research Teams
1. Functional Fiber Research Team
    This team has 3 professors, 4 associate professors and 5 doctors, mainly dealing with the research of various kinds of new functional fiber materials and their forming technology, such as the high strength fiber, electro-conductive fiber, and fire-retardant fiber.
    Team leader: Professor Zhang Wangxi, PhD, Master supervisor, the winner of Henan Universities Prominent Research Innovation Talent, Provincial Backbone Teacher, Academic and Technological Pacemaker in Henan Province Department of Education, director of Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of Henan Province.  

2. Superhard Material Products and Functional Ceramics Research Team
    The team has 3 professors and 6 associate professors, 5 members with doctoral degree. They are mainly engaged in the production of superhard material tools and machine shaping technology of new-type ceramics.
    Team leader: Professor Wang Qinsheng, Master supervisor, the chief expert of the national superhard materials' base, the distinguished adviser of Chinese Superhard Material Association, the editor of more than 10 monographs and test books, chair of or participant in 8 provincial key projects.
    Team leader: professor Fan Jiwei, Ph.D., Master supervisor, director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Association, Engineering Ceramics Professional Committee; member of English Materials Minerals Mining Institute; chartered engineer. He has published over 10 academic papers in internationally famous journals, such as Applied Physics Letters.
 3. Nonferrous Metal Composite Materials Research Team
    This team has 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 4 members with Ph.D., mainly researching on nonferrous metal alloy and the manufacture of composite materials.
    Team leader: Professor Niu Jitai, Doctoral Supervisor, foreign academician of Russian Academy of Sciences; standing director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, director of Physical and Numerical Simulation of Materials Processing Committee, focusing on the research of weld ability and new welding of aerospace new materials. He has published over 90 papers in national and international journals and international conferences as well as numerous works. And he has been invited to attend the academic meeting in Taiwan and Europe for many times.
 4. Green Chemistry Research Team
    This team has 2 professors, 5 associate professors, 8 members with Ph.D., mainly researching on textile chemistry, electrochemistry, eco-materials and so on.
    Team leader: Professor Zhang Liuxue, Ph.D., Master supervisor, researching on textile chemistry. He has published over 20 academic papers in national and international high level academic journals. And his research findings of 3 projects have been successfully transferred into realistic application.
