                                                         Department of Ideological and Political Education

     The Department of Ideological and Political Education was established in April, 2010, which combines the office with the School of Political Science and Law. Since March, 2011, the department has begun to operate independently. The department, a teaching and research organization directly under the leadership of the university, parallels with the other schools at the department level. The department is responsible for the theoretical course of the ideological and political teaching and research for all the undergraduates and graduates of the university.
     The department has a staff of 47 numbers, including 45 professional teachers and two full-time administrators. Among the 45 professional teachers, eight have senior titles, 20 with vice-senior titles, 39 numbers with the master’s degree and 10 the Ph.D. degree. The department provides such teaching and research sections as Marx’s Principles, the Outline of Chinese Modern History, Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis, Occupation Planning and Employment Guidance for College Students, Situations and Policies, and Military Theories. The department also comprises the teaching section of humanity quality education, and three research centers of culture between science and philosophy, social development and ethics, and Asia Pacific affairs.
      At present, the department has two secondary discipline master’s degree programs of Philosophy of Science and History of Particular Subjects. The  History of Particular Subjects comprises four characteristic orientations of Chinese ideology and culture, Chinese legal culture, modern international relations and regional cultures. The Philosophy of Science involves six characteristic specialties: a) studies of science, technology and society; b) science and technology innovation and intellectual property studies; c) ethics of science and technology; d) philosophy of engineering; e) scientific communication studies, and f) studies of science, technology and education. Some academic teams have thus been established so as to carry out interdisciplinary research based on key projects. Presently, significant characteristics and advantages of disciplines have been gradually taken into shape, which offer strong supports to the teaching and research of ideological and political theory courses of the university.
