School of Electronic and Information Engineering
With a history tracing back to 50 years ago, the School of Electronic and Information Engineering is one of the oldest faculties at ZUT. During the past five decades, by sticking to the university motto “Learned, Social Commitment and Self-discipline”, the school has made outstanding achievements in education, scientific research, and subject construction.
By the end of 2010, the school has had 90 teaching and research staff, among which 12 are professors and 30 are associate professors. More than 26% of the faculties hold Ph.D. diploma, and most young teachers have master's degree.
The school has set up 5 undergraduate majors: Electronic and Information Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Measuring & Control Technology and Instrumentations, and Communication Engineering. The major Automation was awarded provincial characteristic specialty in 2007 and later national characteristic specialty in 2010. The major of Electrical Engineering and Automation was awarded provincial characteristic specialty in 2010.
The school has two disciplines granting master’s degree: Control Theory and Control Engineering, Signal and Information Processing. It also owns two provincial key disciplines, in which Information and Communication System is a first-level one, Control Theory and Control Engineering a subordinate discipline.
The school has powerful capability for scientific research. Currently, there are electrical engineering technology research center, automation institute and other research institutions.
In recent years, more than 500 academic papers have been published in various domestic and international academic journals, 30 of which have been selected for SCI, EI and ISTP.
The school has undertaken 2 research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 by nation, more than 50 by ministries, obtained 9 national invention patents and more than 30 items of utility models. For ten years, the school has undertaken the research projects of China Helicopter Research Institute, Harbin Aviation Industry Group, and other national military defense industries. It has signed agreements on talents cultivation and cooperation with Xuji Group Co., Ltd and Zhengzhou Textile Machinery Co., Ltd. Every year, students will go to these enterprises to complete their manufacturing practice and graduation project.
The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ ability of innovation and engineering. Many prizes have been won in competitions such as National Electric Design, National Mathematic Modeling, and Challenge Cup.
Automation
Educational objectives: to master electrical and electronic technology, theory and technology of computer communication, network control, analysis and design of control system, engaging in electrical transmission automation and production automation system, design of various kinds of microcomputer control of industrial automation devices.
Employment: Graduates are capable of working in various industries and defense department, engaging in research, design, integration, development, manufacture and application of information and system control.
Electronic and Information Engineering
Educational objectives: to master technology of analysis, design, research, development and application of modern electronic information processing and electronic engineering.
Employment: Graduates are suitable to work in defense institutions, scientific research units, colleges and universities, corporations, enterprises and units, dealing with signal processing and transmission, electronic equipment and systems, computer network communication, multimedia processing and transmission, and other aspects of research, teaching, design of system hardware and software.
Communication Engineering
Educational objectives: to master technology of communications engineering and network.
Employment: Graduates can work well in telecommunications and business units, information technology industry, design or research institutes, colleges and universities and other departments dealing with mobile communication, data communication and application of network technology, engineering design, system development and scientific research, etc.
Measuring & Control Technology and Instrumentations
Educational objectives: to master technology of research, development, design and manufacture of testing and controlling equipment, such as technology of sensors, information testing, and intelligent instruments.
Employment: Graduates are available in the automatic detection, computer measurement and control, communications, design of intelligent instrument and networking equipment and other areas of research, development, application, teaching, management, etc.
Electrical Engineering and Automation
Educational objectives: to master technology of electrical engineering, power systems and power electronic, automatic control, electrical equipment, and technology of wind, solar and other new energy, design, manufacturing and control of the key equipment of electric cars, technology of building supply and distribution, building automation, etc.
Employment: Graduates have the knowledge and skills to work in colleges and universities, research institutes, power departments, the real estate industry, wind, solar and other new energy industry, electric car industry, industrial and mining enterprises, finance, telecommunications and communications department, environmental protection, electronics, electrical high-tech enterprise and other areas of research, manufacturing, development, application, teaching, management, etc.
