Prof. Jonathan Gerald of Cambridge University Comes to Conduct Scientific Research Cooperation and Exchange

Recently, Prof. Jonathan Gerald, as a guest-professor of our college, accompanied by Mr. Teng Zhongzhao (research scholar), and Dr. Huang Yuan, paid a visit to our university, making a further exchange of scientific research cooperation in neuroimaging.  

During the visit, Prof. Jonathan delivered a lecture about mechanical analysis of atherosclerotic plaques. He made a field study in People’s Hospital of Henan Province with project members of our college and held two academic conferences. After discussion and negotiation, researchers of three parties put forward the researching direction of employing the combination of mechanics and image analysis to analyze the features of carotid atherosclerotic plaques. Our college will take charge of medical image preprocessing, partition and characteristic features so as to provide processed medical images to Cambridge University for further medical analysis. Prof. Jonathan said that Cambridge University would arrange researchers concerned for the cooperative project, and return to Britain at regular intervals for exchange, hoping to achieve a series of researching fruit. Dr. Du Jianhui, vice president of our university, and Mr. Shi Dapeng, head of the Imaging Center of People’s Hospital of Henan Province promised that Zhongyuan University of Technology and People’s Hospital of Henan Province would provide hardware and researching group for conducting the project, and apply respective advantages to supply powerful security for conducting the project.
