     Previously known as department of social sciences established in 1992, the school of humanities and social sciences was established in September, 2004. In April, 2010, the College of Political Science and Law, which is among the first colleges that recruit undergraduate students of law in Henan Province, was officially founded. Being responsible for the teaching of ideological and political theory courses of the university, the School of Political Science and Law has two undergraduate majors: law science and sociology. At the same time, it also offers two master-degree programs of Philosophy of Science and History of Particular Subjects.
    The school has a teaching faculty of 44 members, among which there are 5 full-time professors, 19 associate professors and 10 doctors. Eight teaching and research offices like Department of Law, Department of Social Work and Politic-ideological Education Department have been established. In addition, the school has also established many research centers like intellectual property research center, social policy and social security research center, science and philosophy culture research center, Asia Pacific research center, social development and ethical research center, etc, among which the intellectual property research center has become nationwide famous for scientific research, social service and talents cultivation .
     With the belief of “democracy, rule of law, equity and justice”, the school accelerates the development of scientific research and teaching work through the combination of theoretical teaching and practical teaching. Till now, the school has taken charge of two national philosophy and social science fund projects and six horizontal scientific research items from the government departments like State Intellectual Property Office, judicial organizations, enterprises and public institutions. Over 30 academic monographs, more than 380 papers of high quality, including 120 ones in the core journals, have been published. Abundant teaching resources and advanced teaching and research devices have made a solid foundation for the nurturing of undergraduates and postgraduates.
