Take the honor of serving the construction of Zhongyuan Economic Zone as the guideline and make plans for the new academic year — our university convenes a mid-level leaders seminar

From September 1st to 4th, our university convened a middle-level leaders seminar, on which Xie Zhenshan, the Party Secretary, Cui Shizhong, the President of our university, stressed that we should take the honor of serving the construction of Zhongyuan Economic Zone as the guideline and make plans for the new academic year. This seminar was attended by all middle-level leaders as well as the university leaders, and chaired by the vice- President Gu Jingli.

During the meeting, the president Cui reviewed and summarized the work in the summer vacation, and expressed his appreciation that everyone finished the summer vacation work successfully. Meanwhile, he required everyone to study and discuss the materials issued at the seminar, The Construction and Planning Assembly of the Main Senior Subjects during the 12th Five- year Plan of Zhongyuan University of Technology, and the Party and administration work plan of the academic year of 2012 to 2013. The president Cui emphasized that in the new academic year we should take the spirit and determined goals of the eighteenth congress of the Communist Party of China as a guide and adhere to the path of internal development, advance the talents strategy to strengthen our university and construct the team of the high-quality faculty, and secure university development through the innovation of mechanism system.

To guarantee a better job in the new academic school year, Xie Zhenshan, the Party Secretary, emphasized as follows.
 

Firstly, fully understand the features of advanced education. Xie asked everyone to study the spirits of the documents issued at the seminar, including: Several Suggestions of the Ministry of Education on Improving the Overall Quality of Advanced Education, Several Suggestions of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance on the Implementation of the Plan to Promote College Innovation Ability, Several Suggestions from the Education Department of Henan Province and the Finance Department of Henan Province on Further Strengthening the Construction of College Key Disciplines and Featured Disciplines, The Announcement of the Education Department of Henan Province and the Finance Department of Henan Province about Distributing Collaborative Innovation Program among Universities of Henan Province etc, so that we can profoundly understand the new requirements and new features of higher education development. And we should combine with the facts of our university and make plans for our work so that we can provide a better service to the construction of Zhongyuan Economic Zone.

Secondly, speed up the pace of accumulation, and improve our overall strength and competitiveness as soon as possible to achieve our goals.

Thirdly, strengthen the confidence to develop. It is regretful that we missed some good chances last year. So we should enhance the sense of urgency and crisis, intensify our confidence, and spare no effort to speed up the pace of development to achieve our goals.

Fourthly, finish our work down-to-earth. Every school or department should make the priorities while fulfilling their own duties to make sure that the work plan can be fully implemented.

Fifth, strengthen the construction of the leader team. The Party committee of our university upholds the idea of “two teams” development. The administration team which mainly includes the mid-level leaders is the key to achieve the development goals of our university, because it’s the management team that decides whether various work can be successfully managed, organized and implemented or not. Therefore, everyone should integrate the fulfillment of personal values with the development of our university, so the fulfillment of their personal values is also their contribution to the university development. Keep our goals and work theme in mind, and we will become a management team with ambitions, ideals and capabilities.

To strengthen motivation, cultivate the spirit of team work, inherit the great revolutionary traditions, the seminar attendees paid a visit to the Red Flag Canal and Anyang Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd., and took a quality development training. (text/Li Jianbo)
