Dr. Chen Xiaogang of University of Manchester, employed distinguished professor of our university

On the morning of August 6, our university held a ceremony in the 3rd-floor conference room of the basic laboratory building on North Campus, at which Dr. Chen Xiaogang from University of Manchester was appointed distinguished professor of our university. Cui Shizhong, president of our university, Du Jianhui, vice president, Dong Chengming, vice president, and attendants from Personnel Department, Office of Academic Affairs, Scientific and Technological Department, Office of Foreign Affairs and Exchange, and School of Textiles attended the ceremony, which was chaired by vice-president Dong Chengming.

       At the ceremony, President Shi-Zhong Cui addressed greeting remarks, expressing his warm welcome to Dr. Chen Xiaogang, and awarded Dr. Chen Xiaogang the letter of appointment of the Distinguished Professor, and wore the school badge for him. Dr. Chen Xiaogang expressed his appreciation and had an informal discussion with participants.

  Dr. Chen Xiaogang graduated from the University of Leeds, UK, and has served as a postdoctoral researcher in Hueriot Watt University, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor of University of Manchester in succession. His recent research direction is the mechanism of bulletproof materials engineering and advanced three-dimensional textile composite structure and properties. Research funding of the national projects that he has presided and is presiding over in UK accounts for £ 3,000,000. The remarkable academic achievements he has achieved cover the fields of mathematical description of the textile structure and geometry and mechanical model of the three-dimensional structure and performance of textile materials, design and production of three-dimensional textile materials, performance and application of high-performance textile materials, structure and performance of advanced textile composites, finite element analysis and modeling, design and development of the impact of textile materials, the analysis and research of the filter materials, development and application of textile CAD / CAM systems.

As a distinguished professor of our university, Dr. Chen Xiaogang will help our university obtain a higher guidance for teaching and scientific work of textile materials and textile design, in which will promote the construction of relevant disciplines in our university, and play an important guiding role in cultivating young teachers and international talents of cooperative projects.
