    The School of Art and Design has set up three majors: photography, animation and art design. The major of art design has two academic directions: visual communication and environmental art design. The number of its full-time students of undergraduate level and postgraduate level is 570 and 36 respectively. There is one master-degree program of artistic design which has academic directions like decorative arts research, environment design research, graphic design research, application of commercial photograph research, etc.
    The school has several sub-branches like school office, student work office, teaching and research offices of arts, decorating design, environment design, photograph, animation and art design. In addition, there is an art design experimental center which has three laboratories of elementary arts, photograph and animation. Recently, the school has won one first prize and two second prize of university level teaching achievements. Two excellent courses have been constructed and numerous textbooks have been published.  
     Eight research projects at the department–level or above (including two provincial projects and 6 department–level ones) have been successfully approved. Thirteen awards have been won in a variety of important arts performance competitions. Famous oil painting Jiao Yulu edited according to the major national historical documents has been exhibited in National Art Museum of China. On the grand ceremony of People’s Republic of China’s 60th anniversary, the elaborate floats “Flowers Blossoming in Flourishing Age” designed by teachers from the School of Art & Design was highly valued by the leaders of Communist Party of China and the government, which contributes a lot to the rise of the university’s good reputation and image.
