Canada Sheridan College and ZUT Signed the Memorandum for Cooperation and Understanding

On 18th October in 2012, entrusted by Canada Sheridan College, Angela Stukator, Vice President of the college of art and design, Michael Emery, the international center cooperation project supervisor and Norman Zhang, the Canadian federal college preparatory school executive director, came to our school for a visit and investigation, and signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding with our school.
In the morning, members of the delegation first visited our school academy of art visual communication teaching and research section, environment and art teaching and research section, animation and photographic laboratory. They also inspected students’ homework about packaging design, visual identity design, logo design, book design, illustration design, and advertising design and so on with high spirits. During the process, they also asked some relevant questions from time to time. When they saw students’ works named “Visual Identity Design of Zhongyuan University of Technology”, they expressed great interest, so teacher Hu Yanzhen introduced students’ different design ideas of their homework to them. At the same time she sought their opinions. Pointed at one of the design programs which satisfied Mrs. Hu, they praised “Good! Very good!” without any hesitation. Demanded by our foreign guests, we showed them some students’ animation cartoon works and they gave their high appreciation in animation teaching and research section. At the end of the visit, the academy sent them a CD of students’ works and the collection of teachers’ works as present.
Then Dr. Du JianHui, vice President of ZUT, met the delegation warmly in room 301 of administration building in south campus. The two sides introduced their professional setting and developing situations respectively, expressed their wish to carry out cooperation on international education, management, teaching contents and methods, education resources. Moreover they reached an agreement about carrying out animation, visual communication, photography and business management four professional 2+2, 3+1 cooperation in co-education programs and teacher-student communication, the cooperation of scientific research and graduation design and signed the memorandum for cooperation and understanding. The participants included president Yang Gang, vice president Gao Guifen of the college of art and design, Sun Wei, director of the office of foreign cooperation, vice-director Li Mujie, Liu Yuejun, deputy director of the institute of international education, deputy director of the institute of art and design and Gao Lin, Nan Zheng, Wang Dakai and other heads of the teaching and research section.
In the afternoon, Michael Emery and Angela Stukator addressed a speech about professional education teaching and project development in the field of digital and interactive media, movie, news, game designing, and animation and other for both teachers and students from animation, photography, visual communication and environment and art design. As a result, teachers and students benefited a lot from their speech.
Sheridan College, foundered in 1967, is the biggest academy of art in Canada, the second in North America. It was called the “Harvard” of the animation field due to its first ranking of animation in the world. With seventeen thousand students, this college has stressed cultivating students’ practical capacity. It has established cooperative contact with some famous international companies, such as Disney, DreamWorks Animation, and Pixar.
